Hello,

I am just wondering if anyone can recommend a good auditing books, that would be a good reference. I am new to auditing well have been doing it now for about 3 months. I am getting a little hung up on the HPI elements. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Debi

Hello Debi,
I would suggest "Medical Record Auditor" published by AMA author Deborah J. Grider.

Is auditing and coding the same thing? Is auditing different from coding? What do you do as an auditor? Thanks and sorry for the many questions. I have been thinking about getting certified as an auditor when and if I get the experience as a coder.

Carolyn, In the little practice that I work for. I audit the office visit, to make sure that the doctors are not under or over coding. We only have 2 people that do this in our facility. This is something that I am realitivly new at.

LcChandra, thank you for the recommendation I will have to look into that.
